Individual, telehealth psychotherapy for ages 8 and up.
-All therapy begins with an intake appointment, during which information is obtained about your developmental history, family history, medical/mental health history, treatment history, and therapy goals.
-You may be asked if you would like other people to provide information about your history.
-At the end of the intake, we will discuss your goals, symptoms, and potential diagnoses.
-We will then collaboratively discuss treatment interventions/ recommendations and frequency of therapy.
-An intake appointment will feel very different from a therapy session, as most of the time will be spent collecting information about your life (which means being asked a lot of questions!).
Following an intake, the therapy sessions will address the symptoms/concerns identified in your intake using therapeutic interventions to promote increased understanding, insight, and coping.
The goal is to increase relief from distress and gain improvement in your overall functioning, to achieve the life you want to lead.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Evaluation for ages 2 to 17.
As part of a comprehensive evaluation, you can expect the following:
- Caregivers will be asked to complete several surveys and an interview about their child.
- You will be asked for pediatric medical records, a copy of the child's IEP (if applicable), and any other psychological/cognitive evaluations (if applicable).
- Caregivers will be asked to provide consent to speak to the school counselor/school psychologist and teachers, as relevant.
- There will be direct observation of your child in your home, engaging in a variety of activities that would be developmentally appropriate for their age.
- Data will then be interpreted and a report will be generated with the evaluation results and recommendations. You will receive a copy of this report for your records.
- We will have a 45-minute appointment to review the results together and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions (called a feedback session).
Much of the evaluation can be completed virtually/digitally, aside from the direct observation of your child. This will occur in your home, as this is a familiar and comfortable environment for your child and they will act most naturally in that setting.
